      first the basic facts of a subject are learned, without worrying about details. Then as learning progresses, more and more details are introduced
    • we must be extremely careful with context. When you recall an earlier mental model of something, and then augment that model, you may be rewriting the earlier model. In other words, you're not just adding to an in-place model, but in fact replacing an earlier model with a newer, expanded one. So what are you doing to ensure the foundational models stay intact? Are you repeating the earlier model, and adding resolution? Or are you just writing about the "new stuff" without regard for the existing material?

    • So if we are really talking about design as a business strategy, if we consider design as more than just choosing the right colors, fonts and images, if we really had the chance to sit in a meeting with the board of directors of a news publishing company, would we just suggest to redesign the newspaper?

      Blog post in response to the Ted Video about Design saving newspaper industry (stupid assertion considering design exclusively as a beautification process…)

    • Field is a development environment for experimental code and digital art in the broadest of possible senses. While there are a great many development environments and digital art tools out there today, this one has been constructed with two key principles in mind:
      * Embrace and extend
      * Live code makes anything possible

      Sounds liek a great environnement to bend and bridge various bits and software
